Key considerations for
UK dental practices.
Every practice is different. Here's what we'd think about before buying an intraoral camera.
💷 Budget
If you want Full HD at the lowest possible price, the Acteon C20 at £780 + VAT is unmatched. The CS 1300 is £999 + VAT — ask us for a quote. The C50 ranges from £2,120 to £2,700 + VAT depending on whether you want fluorescence diagnostics. Finance is available on all three.
🖥 Existing software
All three cameras use USB and TWAIN drivers — compatible with virtually any practice management or imaging software on Windows and Mac. If you're in the Carestream ecosystem already, the CS 1300 plugs straight into CS Imaging with no configuration.
👥 Who will use it?
The C20 is designed specifically for simplicity — any team member can use it immediately. If the camera needs to be handed between a clinician and a nurse, or used by different people across the day, the C20's plug-and-play design and auto-flip feature make it the easiest choice.
🔬 Diagnostic ambitions
If you want to detect caries earlier, identify gingival inflammation or spot tooth cracks without X-ray exposure, only the Acteon C50 Fluorescence gives you those capabilities. The HD and C20 are outstanding for patient communication — the C50 is a clinical diagnostic tool.
🦷 Clinical speciality
Implant dentists and endodontists will get the most from the C50 Fluorescence — the Cario and transillumination modes are genuinely practice-changing at that level of clinical work. For general practice, the C20 or CS 1300 will serve the vast majority of cases.
📈 Growth plans
If you're starting your intraoral imaging journey, the C20 is a low-risk, high-reward first step. Once your team is confident with imaging and you want to expand diagnostics, upgrading to the C50 is a natural next step — not a wholesale platform change.
The camera is just the start.
