Specification
Why choose the PSPIX2 phosphor plate scanner
Six things that separate it from every other PSP system on the UK market.
FIBER2PIXEL technology
Broad-spectrum optical microfibres guide photon transmission from plate to sensor, delivering greater differentiation of dental tissue than standard PSP systems.
20 lp/mm resolution
Class-leading resolution for a PSP system. Bone, roots, pulp and fine anatomic structures resolve with precision.
First image in under 3 seconds
Fast mode delivers in 1.6–2.7 seconds, HD mode in 2.1–3.6 seconds. No workflow disruption between patients.
Autoclavable parts
The only PSP scanner with removable parts compatible with thermal washer-disinfectors and autoclave sterilisation.
Plate sizes 0 to 4
Covers paediatric through to occlusal. Thin, flexible plates improve comfort, particularly for gag-prone patients.
Compact footprint
154 × 204 × 193 mm and 2.6 kg. The smallest PSP scanner available – it sits chairside without taking clinical space.
Acteon exclusive
FIBER2PIXEL technology explained
Standard PSP scanners use a direct laser-to-sensor path that loses signal along the way. The PSPIX2 uses broad-spectrum optical microfibres to guide photon emissions from the imaging plate to the sensor, preserving and enhancing detail that would otherwise be lost.
The result is greater differentiation of dental tissue. Bone, roots, pulp and fine anatomy resolve with a precision that surpasses conventional radiological examination – so your diagnosis is both faster and more confident.

In practice
A scanner for your surgery, not the corridor
The PSPIX2 was designed around a simple idea: every dentist should have their own scanner, chairside, always available. No booking it. No waiting for a colleague to finish. No walking down the hall mid-appointment.
You expose the plate, insert it, and the image appears on your screen in seconds – without breaking the flow of treatment.
- You are the single user of the scanner
- No need to move to another room
- Image in the patient file in seconds
- Colour status light shows availability at a glance
- Compatible with Carestream CS 7600 and CS 7200 plates
Included
SOPRO Imaging software included
Every PSPIX2 ships with SOPRO Imaging – advanced X-ray image processing that runs on Windows and Mac, with open format output compatible with all major practice management systems.
It covers the full breadth of clinical work: cariology, periodontics, implantology, endodontics, orthodontics and paediatric dentistry.

Common questions
Acteon PSPIX2 questions answered
Can the PSPIX2 be shared between surgeries?
Yes. It supports multiple users and workstations over Ethernet, so it works either as a personal chairside unit or shared between surgeries. The colour status light shows availability at a glance – blue for available, purple for scanning, yellow for booked.
Is it compatible with Carestream CS 7600 plates?
Yes. The PSPIX2 works with CS 7600 and CS 7200 imaging plates in sizes 0 to 3, so existing plate stock carries over if you’re switching or adding a chairside unit.
What makes FIBER2PIXEL different?
Standard PSP scanners use a direct laser-to-sensor path. FIBER2PIXEL guides photon transmission through broad-spectrum optical microfibres instead, preserving signal and delivering greater tissue differentiation and contrast.
How does the autoclavable design work?
The PSPIX2 has removable parts compatible with thermal washer-disinfectors and autoclave sterilisation. This is instrument-grade decontamination rather than a surface wipe-down, and it’s unique to the PSPIX2 among PSP scanners.
What software is included?
SOPRO Imaging ships with every unit. It provides advanced X-ray image processing, runs on Windows and Mac, and outputs in an open format compatible with all major practice management systems.
How does it differ from the Carestream CS 7600?
The CS 7600 is a centralised multi-surgery scanner with Scan & Go patient routing, suited to sharing across a busy practice. The PSPIX2 is a personal chairside unit for single-surgery use, with autoclavable parts and FIBER2PIXEL technology. Both give excellent image quality – the right choice depends on your practice layout.
