Sharper images. Lower dose. Smarter workflow.
A 0.4 mm focal spot, three selectable kV settings and pre-wiring for the SOPIX digital sensor. The X-Mind Unity is built for dentists who refuse to compromise on image quality or patient safety.
Machine £2,045 · Installation £495 · Critical exam £250 — all clearly shown, nothing hidden. Why installation is included →
No hidden extras. What you see on this page is what you pay. Installation and critical exam are included in every quote — because both are mandatory for your warranty and compliance.
See the X-Mind Unity in action
A short walkthrough from Acteon showing the unit's workflow, SOPIX integration and image quality.
Built to protect patients and sharpen diagnosis
The X-Mind Unity pairs a 0.4 mm focal spot with Acteon's ACE technology and SOPIX sensor integration — a system engineered around less radiation, better images and simpler workflow.
0.4 mm focal spot
Sharper, more contrasted images than standard 0.7 mm generators — with clearly defined contours that make fine diagnostic work easier on your eyes and your team.
ACE radiation protection
When paired with SOPIX inside, the Unity's ACE technology stops the X-ray emission the moment the sensor has what it needs — automatically limiting dose to exactly what the patient's morphology requires.
Three kV settings
Choose 60, 65 or 70 kV to match the clinical job — high-contrast endodontic images at 60 kV, wider grey-scale latitude for periodontal work at 70 kV.
Clear LCD timer
The large LCD displays kV, mA, film type and ACE selection at a glance. Pre-sets for adult or child, occlusal or interproximal, with a memory function that adapts to your sensor or film.
Fluid, stable positioning
Single-handed positioning thanks to a balanced arm. The anti-vibration, anti-drift mechanism holds position through the exposure — fewer retakes, faster workflow.
Flexible installation
Top-mount, bottom-mount or mobile — with three arm lengths (0.40 m, 0.80 m, 1.10 m) to reach across any chair layout. Our engineer specs it with you.
Ready for SOPIX — plug and play
The X-Mind Unity comes pre-wired for the SOPIX digital sensor. No external cables, no separate install visit — the sensor lives with the tube head, connects in under a minute and never goes missing. Add it now or later, whenever you're ready to go digital.
Configure your X-Mind Unity
Pick your arm length, cone type and any optional extras. Tell us when you'd like it installed and we'll confirm availability within one working day — delivery, install, training and critical exam all handled by us.
Why installation is included
Acteon's warranty requires the unit to be installed by a trained distributor engineer. If a local engineer installs it and something goes wrong, the warranty is void — and you're on your own. We include installation and critical exam in every quote so the machine is warrantied, compliant and working properly from day one.

Frequently asked questions
Why is installation mandatory?
Acteon's 2-year warranty is only valid if the unit is installed by a trained distributor engineer. If a local engineer installs it and something goes wrong, the warranty is void and any fault becomes your cost. Our installation fee covers proper setup, calibration and a critical exam that meets IRR17 compliance — you're buying peace of mind, not just a box on the wall.
What's a critical exam and why do I need one?
A critical examination is a legal requirement under IRR17 before a new X-ray unit is put into clinical use. It confirms the equipment meets safety standards, radiation output is correct, and all safety features work as intended. It has to be carried out by a qualified person — we include it in every X-Mind Unity quote so you're clinically compliant from day one.
Which arm length should I choose?
The arm extension is the distance from the wall plate to the scissor arm — so the shorter it is, the closer the wall must be to the patient's head. Short (0.40 m) suits compact surgeries where the chair is close to the mounting wall. Standard (0.80 m) works for most UK surgeries. Long (1.10 m) is for larger rooms or where the chair sits further from the wall. Our engineer will confirm the right choice during your site survey.
Round cone or rectangular cone?
Rectangular cones collimate the beam more tightly to the sensor shape, so they reduce patient dose and are the safer clinical choice — IEC 60601-2-65 actually requires a rectangular (square) cone when using a digital sensor. Round cones are simpler to position and are still common with film or phosphor plate setups. If you're digital or going digital, pick rectangular.
What's SOPIX and do I need it?
SOPIX is Acteon's digital intraoral sensor. The X-Mind Unity is pre-wired for it, so the sensor integrates with the tube head rather than being a separate portable device that can go missing or get damaged. When paired with SOPIX, Acteon's ACE technology automatically cuts the X-ray emission at the right moment to prevent overexposure. You don't need SOPIX to use the Unity — it works with film, phosphor plates and other digital sensors — but it's the best-match option if you want the tightest workflow.
How long does installation take?
A standard wall-mount install is typically half a day, including fitting, commissioning, critical exam and team training. We can work around your surgery schedule and, where possible, install outside clinical hours to minimise disruption.
What finance options are available?
We work with three trusted dental finance partners — Bramar, Performance Finance and Aspired Finance. Typical terms are 3–5 years with competitive rates. You'll deal directly with the finance company (no markup from us). Tell us you're interested when you enquire and we'll make the introduction.
What happens after I submit the form?
One of our team will review your configuration and call or email within one working day to confirm install date availability, answer any questions and — if you're happy — send a formal quote. No commitment until you say yes.
