The Carestream RVG range — two tiers, four sizes.
Carestream's flagship direct sensor line. Pick the RVG 5200 for streamlined workflow at an entry-level price, or the RVG 6200 for premium image processing with CS Adapt software.
Two sensors, two clear paths.
Both are Carestream RVG sensors with the same reinforced rear-entry cable, the same waterproof construction, and the same Size 1 and Size 2 options. What separates them is what happens to the image after the exposure.
RVG 5200
The simple, affordable RVG. Position, expose, view — no control box, always ready.
- Three pre-set anatomic filters: perio, endo, dentin-enamel junction
- Easy-to-use sharpness slider
- Always-on workflow — no need to arm the sensor
- Ergonomic 20% thinner rear-entry cable

RVG 6200
Diagnostic confidence on your terms. 24 lp/mm resolution and the full CS Adapt image processing suite.
- 24 lp/mm true measured resolution
- CS Adapt software — 40 filters in 10 pre-set families
- Up to 4 custom user-defined favourites
- Built-in dose indicator
- Cable tested to 100,000 hard flexions (≈10 years of intense use)
Proven RVG technology, without the fuss.
Capturing an image is one thing. Acquiring a diagnostic image you can actually work with is another. The 5200 strips the workflow back to three steps and trusts you to get on with the day.
-
1Position. Expose. View.
No control box. No arming step. No opening an acquisition window. The 5200 is always ready when you are.
-
2Three anatomic filters built in
Perio, endo and dentin-enamel junction filters preset and one click away. Plus a sharpness slider for fine-tuning.
-
320% thinner rear-entry cable
Easier placement, better bitewings, simpler vertical bitewing acquisition. More comfortable for the patient.
-
4Reinforced & submersible
Connection points reinforced against hard pulls and torsions. Fully submersible for infection control.
-
5Integrates with your software
Works with most UK imaging and practice management systems — keep your current workflow, just sharper.
Image quality on your terms.
The 6200 starts with a measured 24 lp/mm sensor and pairs it with CS Adapt — Carestream's image processing module designed around how dentists actually read radiographs. The result: faster, more confident diagnoses, with the image dialled to look the way you want it.
-
124 lp/mm true measured resolution
19-micron pixels and 4,096 grey levels (12-bit). CMOS-scintillator-fibre construction designed for diagnostic detail.
-
2CS Adapt image processing
40 filters across 10 pre-set families, plus up to four custom favourites you define yourself. All in the RVG viewing window.
-
3Broad exposure range
Forgiving — no time-consuming exposure fine-tuning. A built-in dose indicator flags over- and under-exposure on the fly.
-
4Cable tested to 100,000 flexions
Roughly 10 years of intense clinical use. Reinforced connection points, 20% thinner than the previous RVG generation, more flexible for bitewings.
-
5Shock-resistant, submersible casing
Built for bites, drops and tugs. Fully submersible for infection control.
5200 vs 6200 — the detail.
A fair, like-for-like view of how the two RVG sensors compare on the things that actually affect day-to-day use.

"Not published" indicates Carestream's RVG 5200 brochure doesn't disclose a figure for that spec — not that the sensor is necessarily inferior. If the detail matters for your decision, give us a call.
The 360 difference.
A Carestream RVG is a Carestream RVG wherever you buy it. The difference is what comes around it — and who answers the phone when it doesn't behave.

Is a different imaging system right for you?
RVG sensors are the right choice for most practices — but two alternatives are worth a look depending on how you work.
Eighteeth Nanopix
Two wireless direct sensors at a sub-£2,500 entry point. Instant images, no cables, no plates. Worth considering if you want a wireless alternative to RVG.

Carestream CS 7200 Neo
Prefer plates? The CS 7200 Neo uses flexible Smart Plates that sit like film. Same Carestream imaging quality, different workflow — chairside or shared.

RVG 5200 or RVG 6200 — which is right for me?
If you want straightforward digital sensor imaging at the lowest price point and you're happy with three anatomic filters, the 5200 is the right call. If you want a published 24 lp/mm resolution, the full CS Adapt processing suite (40 filters across 10 families with custom favourites), and a dose indicator built in — go 6200. Both share the same reinforced cable design and waterproof casing.
What size should I buy?
Size 2 covers the majority of adult intraoral work — bitewings, periapicals on larger patients, occlusal-style shots. Size 1 is the right choice for paediatric work, anterior periapicals, and patients with smaller mouths. Many practices buy one of each. If you can only buy one, start with Size 2.
What software do I need?
Both sensors use Carestream's CS Imaging software, which is included. CS Imaging integrates with most UK practice management systems. The RVG 6200 also includes the CS Adapt module for advanced image processing. We'll help you get it talking to your existing setup.
Are these wireless?
No — both RVG sensors are USB-connected via a reinforced rear-entry cable. The cable is 20% thinner than previous RVG generations, designed for better placement and comfortable bitewings. If wireless matters to you, look at the Eighteeth Nanopix.
How long will the cable last?
Carestream tests the RVG 6200 cable through 100,000 hard flexions — roughly ten years of intense clinical use. The 5200's cable shares the same reinforced rear-entry design. Both have reinforced connection points that withstand hard pulls and torsions.
Can I use the same positioners with both sensors?
Yes — both sensors share the same external dimensions for each size, so they take the same Carestream positioners. We can supply a full set with either sensor.
