What's the difference between the RVG 5200 and RVG 6200?
Both sensors are USB direct, fully waterproof and available in size 1 and size 2. The RVG 6200 adds 24 lp/mm true resolution, CMOS + Scintillator + Optical Fibre technology, 4096 grey levels (12-bit), CS Adapt image processing software with 40 filters, and a cable tested to 100,000+ hard flexions. If image quality and software flexibility matter to you, the 6200 is the clear choice.
Which size should I choose — size 1 or size 2?
Size 2 is the standard adult size used for most periapical and bitewing work. Size 1 is smaller — recommended for children, smaller adult mouths, or patients with a strong gag reflex. Many practices keep both sizes. We can advise based on your patient mix.
Do I need a control box?
No — both sensors connect directly via USB and are always ready to acquire. There's no arming step, no control box, and no need to open an acquisition interface before taking an image. Position, expose and view.
Is the RVG compatible with my existing software?
Both sensors integrate with most major imaging and practice management software packages. We'll confirm compatibility with your specific system before you order, and configure everything as part of installation.
How waterproof are the sensors?
Both RVG sensors are tested for full submersion — meaning they can be fully immersed in liquid for infection control purposes. This is a genuine waterproof rating, not just splash resistance.
What is CS Adapt?
CS Adapt is Carestream's image processing module included with the RVG 6200. It gives you 40 filters across 10 preset families, the ability to define up to 4 personal favourite presets, and full contrast customisation — all accessible from the RVG viewing window without opening a separate application.
